The Unsolved Murder Of Biggie Small

DNA, trace evidence, gun residue, and other gains in these forensic sciences help prosecutors make their cases airtight to a Jury. So why is it that some murders remain a mystery? Christopher Wallace, better known as Notorious BIG or Biggie Small, was one of the most influential Hip Hop artists of the 1990s. It was a foregone conclusion that Biggie had something that was going to touch people and the sky was the limit as far as his career was concerned. But his career came to an abrupt on on March 9th, 1997 just three weeks before the release of his third album ironically titled "Life after death, Till death do us part". The New York rapper and Puffy Combs were at an after party following the Soul Train awards in Los Angeles. The party took place at the Peterson Museum. The party ended around 12:35 AM and Biggie got into the passenger seat of his suburban. Puffy Diddy Combs was in the SUV in front of it. The vehicles exited the parking structure and proceeded to the first light at Wilshire and Fairfax.

Then a dark colored auto, which has been reported as being a dark colored Chevy Impala, pulled along side Biggie's vehicle. The driver open fired on BIG with a 9MM weapon shooting numerous times into Biggie's chest before fleeing the scene. While Biggie fought for his life, the driver raced to the hospital but it was too late. At 1:15 AM Biggie Small was pronounced at the age of 24. Police say dozens of people witnessed the killer yet no one identified the killer. So who was behind this violent attack? Most people think that the parties behind the attack are East Coast, West Coast gang members. Some people think that Suge Knight and Deathrow records put out a hit on Biggie. But Suge Knight doesn't see it that way. he says that he is a businessman and if anything he would want to sign Biggie because he was a great Rapper. Without suspects of evidence to make an arrest BIG's case went cold. Some folks think that there are even police officers involved and there are political implications.

In July 2006 investigators reopened Biggies case posting a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. But nobody is holding their breath. People in the Hip Hop world don't want to talk to the police, it's really that simple. Who wants to snitch on somebody and tell them oh by the way here is my address so if you want to kill me you know where to find me. Nobody wants to do that. The more dangerous the case the harder it is to get it solved with a witness coming forward. So Biggies case remains cold and unsolved like the hundreds of others in Los Angeles.
