The Unsolved Case Of Jason Allen And Lindsey Cutshall

Two young people in their twenties out to see the world. Two sleeping bags leading to a heinous double homicide. In 2004, at the Rock N Water Christian camp in Colona California, Lindsay Cutshall and Jason Allen were spending the lazy days of summer working as counselors for the Bible school camp. Jason was 25 and a Bible college graduate from Michigan. Lindsay was a 22 year old Pastors daughter from Ohio. They were in love and engaged to be married that fall. Six weeks after they had met, Jason asked Lindsay's father for her hand in marriage. After Lindsay's father got to know Jason better he realized he was the right man for Lindsay. Their work at the camp was winding down on Friday, August 13th and Jason and Lindsay got in their car for a weekend getaway to see some of the sights of Northern California before going home to be married. They never made it to the alter.

The next thing that happened was that Lindsay's Mother Kathy got a call from the camp wanting to know if they had heard from Lindsay or Jason. Right away the Cutshall family knew something was terribly wrong. On Wednesday the 18th, those fears were confirmed. The local Sheriff's noticed that their were two sleeping bags on the beach with no one moving in them. When they checked it out they discovered both Lindsay and Allen were both dead. They had each been shot in the head with a 45 caliber Marlin rifle. It appears that the killer came up and shot them and simply vanished afterwards. Not only do the police not know what provoked it, it makes one wonder if anyone is safe in the same situation. Detectives followed hundreds of leads and questioned nearly everybody in the nearby town of Jenner. There weren't many clues. Nothing of value was missing and there was no evidence of sexual assault.

Investigators found a journal in a driftwood structure near by. People would write random entries into the book that meant nothing. Both Jason and Lindsay wrote in the Journal and talked about the sunset and Jason wrote about his relationship with Lindsay. The journal had been out there probably two to three months prior to the murders. The police are hoping the people who made those entries will eventually come forward and talk to them about their observations. They are not expecting that to happen however. A beer bottle of a brand known as Camo left near the scene was only available at a few speciality stores. The police don't know it is related to the homicides or not but they would like the person who owned it to come forward as well. They don't expect that to happen either. Investigators were also looking for a vehicle that was reportedly parked near the beach.

They would like the person who owns the dark colored squared model sedan with a white sticker in the rear window referred to as a "Darwin" symbol to come forward and talk to them about anything they may have witnessed. They equally doubt that will happen as well. Lindsay's Father had planned to officiate over his daughters wedding in September 2004. He presided over her funeral instead. It gives Lindsay's Father great comfort knowing Jason and Lindsay are in heaven but it also causes them great pain at the same time. Lindsay and Jason's ashes are buried together two miles from Lindsay's home. A $50,000 reward remains unclaimed. The sheriff believes there is someone out there that has information that would help them solve this case. But he is not holding his breath waiting for that someone to come forward.

Lindsay's Dad says there is not a day that goes by that they do not grieve but there is also not a day that goes by that they are thankful for the time that Jason and Lindsay were in their lives. In one of her poems Lindsay wrote "Heaven will be a wonderful place of no suffering, hurt, or loneliness. It's a great thing to look forward to". There have still not been any arrests.
